Mixed Media: Collage and Oils...I need some advice

Postby arlynnhr » Fri Aug 22, 2008 10:18 am

Hi everybody!

I like to use collage/oils mixed media, but sometimes it's very difficult to "blend" the collage with the surrounding painting because the edges of the paper show a lot. Has anyone discovered a way to "blend" or "hide" the edges of the paper cut outs?

Do you think it would be better if I used Acrylics instead of Oils? ... If so, I'll have to learn acrylics...

Thanks in advance for your help :!:

I don't know what the collage artists use, but textured glue worked very well for me on this piece (go to page 2): http://asingularcreation.com/Forums/vie ... highlight=

It covers, hides and your can create interesting textures with it. You can paint with acrylics on the glue. I don't know whether oils would work or not.
