trying for a fresher look...

Postby ehoeveler » Wed Apr 08, 2015 1:05 pm

I feel like I want to keep some of my layering but at the same time I am striving for my
work to have a bolder, more 'clean' effect.
Both works are in the early color stages and there has to be in my mind, more imagery to the bottom of 'eye'.
Why do I want to add a man mowing his lawn at the bottom? Can't get that idea out of my head!
Thanks for any feedback or suggestions. E

I really like the blue on the sky on the first painting, looks like a wedge wood blue. The lawn mower is a great Idea, as long as "He is pushing it REAL Good!

Like the first ..it has potential.

Uh-huh, I think I can pretty much nail #1. Number 2 is about Akhenaten,
the first Egyptian ruler who firmly believed in One God as opposed to Bast, Osiris, Anubis and the other
'demi-gods' worshipped at that time. Erika started the convo about Akhenaten - she posted amazing shots
of his sculptural heads. If you'll note the disk with hanging arms/hands - I got that from his tomb's wall engravings.
I also think that the art styles changed during his reign - imagery more 'human' and lifelike!

are hard! I'll take extra time with...E :D

I don't think they'er ugly. I love the impressionistic feel of the firsts one, but the way you contrasted the sky from the vegetation gives it a wonderful 3D effect., then the trees with their light and dark areas but then a hint of sky coming through other areas almost brings them to life. The people frolicking by the muddy river. I'm looking forward to see how your going to finish this.

I really like the winsome colors of the second one and the lay out, The little details like the little leafy plant popping up behind the eye. The sun rays that turn to hands, one of the hands grabbing for an eye, the little plant almost unnoticeable growing up in front of the flower, the glassy shin off the eyes.

You really have a wonderfully unique style about you E.

Wow!! these have certainly evolved ! The color on the second one is really rich and vibrant! I just love
the way the clouds pop out on the first painting. Great job!

Thank You so much, Yoli -now to start working on those dratted people!
Michelle, I am so glad you like the eyes. I tended to use them as tools of judgement but
with this painting I use them for kindness and awareness.
