any thoughts, please

Postby Lynne of Luray » Sun Feb 24, 2013 6:15 pm

I thought I'd posted this earlier, but don't see it so will try again. I think I'm probably more than 3/4 done with this, but not sure what I want to do with the beach. Any comment, suggestion, critique, etc., would be greatly appreciated. I'm doing this from a photo sent by a friend in the Yucatan Peninsula. THANKS

Lynn, your water is stunning as always
but I would love to see more action with those clouds.
You could have a little more pink around the edges, maybe a
just a touch of light cobalt here and there and when
you add your lighter colors definitely give them that dark
shadow that you have in the middle.
Or. Google storm cloud paintings and have a look!
Thanks, Ehoeveler

I like it as it is actually. I like the colour usage and I don't get the feeling of a storm as such more the power of the elements. Plus the focal point is the waves to me.

Excellent.

Thank you both for your thoughtful responses! They give me something to consider as this painting nears completion. I can see the advantage of bringing out more expressive detail in the clouds and may do a bit of experimenting. I appreciate your taking time to write.

Agreed, but I too think they are stuck.. seem too flat for the water, if it where graffiti it would be great for a nice font there or a shirt or logo or what have ya... Idk round them... ( i'd rather look in the clouds than to talk to drama infected souls lmfao) make it into ... a dolphin? like your sitting, watching, and watching clouds?!!?

PS don't forget your corona bottles >_< jp!!!
