First draft. 12x18 conte pencil on toned paper


Not completely satisfied with the results. Conte didn't allow me the subtlety in tones I was looking for in the face and hands. preparing another effort this time straight graphite pencil and graphite powder on toned paper.

Incredible that you did this so fast. I would love for you to now go in and add some dark tones to make it really pop, like to the area below the chin adjacent to the neck and to soe of the strands of hair.

Thanks, I did half yesterday and half today while waiting for the painting I am working on to dry. Back to the painting tomorrow, I might get back to this the next drying phase for the painting, it's the higher priority. There are lost of thin strands around the edges of her hair which just aren't showing up here.
