About Me: Portraiture has always held a special interest for me. I love the challenge of combining accuracy and observation with the intangible qualities of each individual subject. My love of the portrait was enhanced by the birth of my twin boys. Painting them is always such a personal and gratifying experience. This perspective has created even greater significance for my portrait paintings.

Although I began working as a traditional portrait artist, I found inspiration in the colors, patterns and moods of landscapes. I began experimenting with combining portraits and landscapes in ways that manipulated boundaries and allowed for various design elements to merge. My landscapes often capture a sense of atmosphere, rich color and lost edges typical of Tonalism. Other paintings focus on the repeating patterns and negative spaces of trees and how those spaces can interact with the figure.

My figurative landscape paintings constantly challenge and excite me creatively. They are a continuously evolving combination of classical and contemporary themes. These paintings imply a connection, both physically and symbolically, between the figure and their surroundings and are increasingly allegorical. My working process is transforming, but the direction is clear. I want to create an elegant, ethereal quality that translates into a form of visual poetry.
