Fox Fires on New Year's Eve

by Jabberwocky
This is a reworking of the idea behind Hiroshige's woodblock print, "Fox Fires on New Year's Eve at Oji," part of his "100 Views of Edo" series. The story goes that every year on New Year's Eve, foxes (who are believed to have magical powers in Japan) would gather around a tree at Oji and discuss their plans for the next year. I added a few extra bits of Kitsune mythos for this piece-- namely the golden nine-tailed fox, which is the most magical and wise.
