On the Nahannie

by bergina
This painting was done as a surprise gift for Dalton and Peter, my brother-in-law and nephew. They embarked on a once in a lifetime canoe trip down the world famous Nahannie River, located in the NWT, Canada . Upon their return, I stole some of their photos and created a painting based on some challenging situations that they encountered. This scene may look relatively complacent however, five days in, all supplies including tent and sleeping beds were almost lost when a brutal windstorm swept through this valley taking everything airborne. Fortunately, it wasn’t a complete disaster and most things were salvaged. I decided to use this Valley as the backdrop for their portrait including their canoe and tent.
