Tsunami Red

This is a pastel rendering of a chesnut quarter horse. She is a filly, 4 years old ans her owner was lunging her when the reference photo was taken. I was drawn to this image through the energy and power of the horse, the gorgeous musclature and the rise and fall of the mane, like a waterfall. When I was close to finishing this I knew the work was about the energy and power of this gorgeous horse like a wave rising. And so she became Tsunami Red!
