What I don't understand is the selection process for the finalists. I guess I thought that the preliminary voting/ranking was for the purpose of choosing the finalists, but apparently that is incorrect, as one of my entries was the third highest ranked, another the fifth - yet neither are among the finalists.
Please confirm, as it is unclear to me what the purpose of the preliminary voting is.

So, really, the public ranking/preliminary voting is actually irrelevant to the contest results.
Im glad I understand now.

I think I need to clarify something - I was not complaining in anyway about the choice for the finalists. I was merely clarifying my understanding of how the contest is run, as this was my first time to enter. I agree that all of the finalists are excellent, and I wouldn't want to have to choose only 15 of all the entries - I don't mean to sound as if I am in disagreement with any.
I look forward to continuing to participate in this site.
