First Post And Latest Painting

Just got back into painting and finished this tonight. Hope you all like it. I used a canvas with an old unfinished work on it. I hoped that as I painted the new paint would build up on top of the old one, but no. The old work is popping through. Still, I hope you think it's okay.

Thanks a lot. I've been away from painting for many years and I'm just getting back into it. I have nothing else to show! But I'm working on another and intend to NOT STOP painting this time. I'd like to start selling some of my work. I'm very glad you like it.

Thanks. I'm trying to ignore that but I just can't. Luckily it's in a spot that I can repaint easily. If it was the ship, I don't know if I'd want to do it again. I'm thinking that a very, VERY, light use of sandpaper might flatten it out and then I could repaint those areas.

Thank You David. It's actually a depiction of an actual event. It occurred off the coast of The Philippines in December of 1944. Admiral "Bull" Halsey ran the Third Fleet into one of the biggest Typhoons ever. Every ship in the force received some damage and three destroyers were sunk. One, with all hands. My scene shows the U.S.S. Spence. She capsized and sunk. 23 men were rescued, incredibly enough, but 315 went down with her.
