did I get a likeness?

Postby zookeeper » Sun Jul 07, 2013 12:34 pm

I was asked to paint from a photo but switch the heads. The photo of the new head was of poor quality and facing the wrong direction. My concern is did I get a reasonable likeness?

I think you did...why the sailor motif?
It is a very good painting. What medium did you use?

Heck Yea!!!! What a marvelous painting - I love everything about it.
Great likeness and the action, drawing and coloring are excellently rendered.

Yes, excellent likeness and a great "action" painting. Well done.

thank you all for your comments.the painting is done in oils. the sailing motif because the subject had sailed in 12 foot seas.

You did an excellent job with retaining a likeness. I do think that with the brim of the hat a cast shadow upon his face and more modeling from light to dark would put him more n the scene. Also proportions seem a bit off as far as his head size. The upper right side of the frame is stifling the flow and seems too much of an equilateral to work in your design.
Very nice technique. Excellent painting skills. Good luck.

Madame 'E' is clairvoyant - friends with Dionne Warwick.
I predict he'll more than agree!
