Redesign is Complete

Postby Singular » Sat Aug 27, 2011 8:05 am

Hello all, The forum and gallery redesign is complete. We are very excited about all of the new features. I think it turned out awesome. We have tested all of the bugs pretty well, but it is possible that we missed a few. If you come across something fishy, just let us know and we will take care of it. Here are just a few of the tons of new features:

  • New control panel
  • New profile page
  • Your own blog
  • Subscriptions and bookmarking available
  • Increased upload limits for forum and gallery
  • New gallery interface
  • Social network friendly
  • bigger
  • stronger
  • and faster
That's not all. There is much, much more that you will have to see for yourself. In addition, we will be offering premium membership for those who would like to support us. In exchange, you will get extra benefits and goodies. All of that info will be available soon. Have fun with all of the new updates and I hope to see you soon.

all the best,
Joe

Whew! I thought you'd gone...
site looks good but I'm not feeling love
from the forum upload limits, still the
same ol' 200kb cap!
Thanks, E.

Are you sure about that? I have increased the limit to 1024KB per attachment in the forum and 3072KB per uppload in the gallery. Did you try to upload and get an error?

Joe, wow, the site is a lot more complex! I can only imagine the enormous work behind it. Great job! A small thing I noticed: when you're done reading a topic in a forum it takes some time to find the "return to board index". Maybe it wouldn't hurt to make it more visible for first time users. Congrats on the cool changes!

Thanks Erika. Good idea. And yes, it was a ton of work and got pretty costly with all of the development hours. But I think it was worth it. It turned out pretty well.

OK, the text for the board index link needs to be a little bigger, to make it easier to find. Maybe change the color of the link also.

Indeed Joe! Thanks for all the hard work. I think my favourite so far is "recent topics" on the board index page, and it's easier to upload images to Showdown as well.

Yea, the gallery uploading is much better now. When you get a chance, check out your control panel, profile page and since you are a moderator, you will get a "moderator control panel" link at the footer when you are in a forum that you have permission to moderate. Let me know if you have any questions.

Joe, do you mean the "edit" , "delete" and such buttons I see in the posts of other people?

Those are just inline admin permissions you have as a moderator. What I am referring to is a link to your moderator control panel, which is at the very bottom of the page. It is a control panel similar to your user control panel, but has moderator functions.

Hello Joe,
The forum looks good and brite. And ofcourse like others will kind of learn my way around. And will read up on the new things. I post a lot of pictures. So that,s where I will go 1st. As for the rest of it. I'll learn as I go along.
Perfection is what drives an artist.
The inability to achieve perfection is what creates a work of art.

That's very odd. Here is a screen shot of what you are supposed to see. Not sure why it is not there for you.

Can you try a few different forums and the forum index page?

Ok, it looks like it's only the "Artwork and Critique" page. It even says I don't have permission to read some forums. The last one I see is Show your Website.
The index page and forums are ok.

How odd. What forums are you not able to read?
