“It has taken me a long time to be able to grant the hand and artwork total freedom so that it can take on a form and direction of its own.
The artwork has now become independent, detached and free from the artist and the rigid strangling necessity we have to control and push our work into a planned, controlled and pre determined path.
Now the finished aesthetic, from beautifully unknown origins, holds a unique way of toying with a person’s visual memory, with a special ability to evolve further over time.”
Born on an RAF base in Lincolnshire, England in 1979 Russell is located just South of London in Farningham, North Kent. Like many artists he is often overly critical of his own work. Or ‘was’ as the case maybe. As he now declares that his work has hit it’s stride and that he can also for the first time finally accept the whole piece, ‘warts and all!’ This is why it’s taken 31 years for him finally to release his work into the public.
