Misty Mountain Scene

Postby kcortese » Tue Dec 14, 2010 11:29 am

Hi, started this painting about 7 months ago and figured I'd slap some more paint on it. It won't get finished thrown in my closet.

Don't know where my
ain is today, so let's see what I do with it.

Thanks for the encouragment Singular Guy!

I did a little more work on this piece. Hope it doesn't turn out to be a marathon painting, which I do sometimes. I nit pick and fuss around with finishing details.

My husband likes this painting and approves of it so far.

Here is what I did to it so far today. Doesn't look too different, but I DID make some changes.

This work has dept. I think you should think old masters as you work on it. It can be a real good one. Think deep and dark.
Perfection is what drives an artist.
The inability to achieve perfection is what creates a work of art.

Thank you very much John for the support on this piece.

I'll finish it up this week. I keep messing up the trees in the forground because I don't have the right
ush for painting pine trees. I have a stiff fan
ush, but it's too big. And my smaller stiff
ushes don't give me the texture I'm looking for. Even tried a flat
ush.

I'll figure something out. I have plenty of
ushes to choose from, finding the right one is the trick for me. I'm self taught, and struggle with techniques like this.

I'm getting too fussy with this. AAAAUUUGGG!

I need to black out the foreground and try again. I also filled in the space between the
anches and can't see the mountains through the trees now. I need to fix that too.

I guess less is better, too much fussing around will ruin a painting.

I'll post an updated pic later today.

Made some adjustments.

If I don't block out the background with the trees again, I should be OK. I painted over my last messup and am going to make another atempt at painting the trees "without" loosing the background.

GRRRRR!!! I'm a gluton for punishment! Why, oh why do I do this to myself!

Here is today's pic.

Thanks for viewing and following this mess.

Last pic of the day.

This pic was taken when it was dark outside, so my crappy camera didn't pick up all the color variations. The original looks much, much, better. Maybe I'll take a pic outside in the morning and replace this one.

Thanks for viewing and following.

Couldn't work on this painting much today, had to go shopping. I did a little more work on some trees (what else is there?).

Won't be working on this for a few days, will be out of town. Here is another pic.

Thanks for viewing, have a great day!

Here is today's pic.

Should finish this one up today with final touchups and a little grass in the foreground.

Will post again when done.

Thank all you nice people for following this piece, and have a great day!

Thank you for the nice comment on this painting.

It's hanging in my son's mother-in-law's livingroom now. Sorry, but didn't get the final pic since it was going to be a gift. It didn't change much since the last posted pic.
