Hi There!
I think this drawing is excellent!
I love how you've rendered the hair, lips, and headband. The proportions are good as well.
If I were to suggest anything, it would be to darken the viewer's right jawline a bit more, to est. more contrast/value in the shadowed area, giving the jawline more distinction.
Great work!

Thank you Barb. I will try to darken it up...It is pretty dark now but photographing graphite is an art in and of itself. It really lightened up the shadow under the jaw quite a bit. If you have tips or tricks on photographing graphite or know of a forum post that speaks to this problem I would be very happy to hear them!
Thanks,
Stan

Hi there, have you ever tried carbon pencils? I recently started using them alongside graphite pencils. I found that going darker with graphite made the shadows shiny! Carbon pencils are great for shadow areas as they do not produce the shine! Great drawing, i like the detail around the eyes!

You know I have a carbon pencil or 2 and have used them rarely. I should get them out and explore more with them. I have been drawing for less than a year so I have many miles to travel, and techniques to explore! Thank you for the nice comment!
