Gallery Representation

Postby jfinger » Fri Oct 23, 2009 3:12 pm

I have been approached by a gallery for long term representation. while I am excited about the prospects, I am wondering about what to except.

what can I expect from the gallery?
Do I pay for anything?
publicity?
exhibit?
How may pieces would be required?

So many questions.

I am really lost in this so any help would be appreciated.

Juanita, If a Gallery has approached you. Beware. And if you have no imformation about them. Beware again. Be sure about who you are dealing with. The 1st time they ask for money, Walk (run) away. Don,t be taken in with smooth talk. There,s a lot of good people in the art market. But as in any other kind of market. There are those you need to be aware of.
Perfection is what drives an artist.
The inability to achieve perfection is what creates a work of art.

The contract they sent did require me paying for publicity. So, I thought it might not be a good offer. Thanks for confirming my suspicions.

"HOW TO SURVIVE & PROSPER as an ARTIST,, fifth edition,
selling yourself without selling your soul."

By Carroll Michels
