This is my third finished portrait. Once again it is of my husband and is done in pastel. It is also my largest drawing so far at 50 x 70 cms. Any comments, good or bad, would be appreciated.
from looking at your first portrait, it seems that you have a consistency about the facial features, though I have no idea what he looks like. My only suggestions would be that his hands seem small, that is, out of proportion. Also the line of his shoulder/back seems awkward. but again, nice likeness and good color.
Thank you very much for your kind comments. Actually, the drawing was finished when this photo was taken. The drawing was taken from an original photo. The line to which you refer isn't a shirt line it is just how his shoulder appeared in the photo. I should improve with more practice.
You are showing a great deal of talent here and I like this portrait alot!
I think portraits can be challenging, as you aren't just 'painting" the likeness, but capturing the personality/moment, difficult task, but I think you done it!
Great to hear from you again! Yes, I know exactly what you mean about capturing the personality and moment, it certainly is the most difficult part of drawing portraits. I am so pleased that you say I have managed to achieve that. I really appreciate your comments!
Thanks for your comment and I am glad you like it. I am working on another one now for a friend and I think it is going alright, albeit a bit slow. Still, I enjoy it and that is the main thing!
