Hey Brian, I think this painting is exceptionally well done meaning great balance in color, composition, detail and just love the lighting. This actually does rival the old Masters. Panting boats so they appear to rest in and not float above the water is a challenge. Though your photo is small, I think you did a great job. My only concern and it relates to this issue is with the front half of the large sailboat. This does and should have less light because of the angle of the bow and light source. Is it sitting up a bit too high out of the water? The dark bottom shadow followed by a light colored line to the top is a bit confusing for me. I think the dark shadow on the bottom of the boat might run up to high and the light outline leading to the front maybe a bit too strong. I only really noticed this because this was the main focal point for me and I always came back to looking at this sailboat. The world has a limited number of great marine artists and I think you could be one of them. I can’t really tell with the size of image. Regardless, if this is a study meaning you may have plans to create something much larger with the same general layout and theme; it should be a huge commercial success if this is your direction and marketed properly. You definitely have it goen on here! This painting itself should put you in a league of a very select few. Just my opinion.
