Test

Done a few test about 3 months ago. Useing acrylic as a primer for aluminum. I,ve found that as far as being durable, it is. However, It is hard to paint with oil paint over the acrylic. It is hard and slick. So I,m trying this new test. I primed a piece of aluminum with 3 differnt kinds of metal primer. On top of that coat of primer I applied a coat of gusso. I put oil paint on the primer and on the primer with gusso. Will let it sit inside the house for about a month. Then I will set it outside and see how it does. From all the testing I,ve done. I know it will work well. Just doing this one last test. To be sure.

The reason I place the test piece outside is to test it against hot sunlight and cold rain. I,ll keep the test piece inside for a while so it will have a chance to dry and set up well. A week outside is like a few months inside. The metal itseft will never fail. If a painted surface sits out side for a few months and don,t peel or crack. It will last inside for a very long time. The test pieces I placed outside 3 months ago is doing well. I think it all will hold up real good.

It,s been a year since I set this piece outside. It has pass the test. I,ve made a new test. I primed and painted a piece of copper with acrylic and oil paint. They say you can,t paint on copper. I think you can. So I will test it and see. If it holds up outside for a year or so. I,ll know for sure. Now, Why paint on copper? Don,t really know. Just like the idea of it.
