Suggestions... yes, finally!!

Postby BAReam » Wed Jun 11, 2008 11:21 pm

Hi Glomski... you would like some suggestions for painters block...ok;finally! 1) two parts Quaervo Gold/three parts marquarita mix; fresh lime sliced 1/4"thick; coarse sea salt {iodized if you need it}; cracked ice; 24 oz. beer mut, frozen; 32oz. stainless steel shaker {special order item} of course you know how to proceed from here. I make my first batch (wet ingredients and lime) at least 64oz to save time :D

2) throw a painters drop cloth on the floor... you will need it  put on your grungyest duds and apron...you will need them  Find something you want to paint..or paint on. Drag out the utility
ushes and place 4 of your favorite colors and 2 of your least favorite colors{to paint over later}on palate. Mount palate solidly, as to not knock it over later... believe me you will try :P

3) commence... put on Pink Floyd-{Dark Side of the Moon} as loud as your husband will allow. Prepared drink in non-dominant hand,
ush etc. in dominant hand... pick up some paint and begin... as though possessed.

Disclaimer ; I will not be held responsible for your masterpiece, although a peek would be nice. And, if the end product is not so good... well; in the morning you can deny having anything to do with it, as you may not recall :?

You caught me in a mischeviuos mood... more serious later
all the best...

Nigelartist's Answer

Leave it exactly as it is!

I find that when I'm unsure whether a painting is finished or not then it usually is.

Don't force creativity...let the stream of consciousness flow.

Yea last time that didn't work out so well, I actually ended up painting over it and over it and over it until it became "layers" for obvious reasons. It's funny though cause that's pretty much what happen..... Drank some tequilia, blasted Pink Floyd and threw a fit on the canvas..... it ended up being some peachy blue mess it was horrible!!
I think I'm going to work on it today.... sober, and see what happens. I'm thinking some black.... yes black would be nice, yea maybe over the whole thing :P

Hi Glomski

Postby BAReam » Thu Jun 12, 2008 10:58 am

Hope you enjoyed my not so subtle, or helpful attempt at humor :D The real point is to begin {should listen to my own advice sometimes}... spoil the virginal {love that word} canvas and get with it! Sometimes I just mark it to
eak the spell

As it is flooding here may be offline for awhile.. not to worry!
all the best... Bruce

Pick your favorite colors, your favorite music, what ever else is necessary for your creative process.....

Then blind fold yourself and paint... Paint like you are really trying...Try to paint something specific in mind... If you haven't anything in mind... open a dictionary and paint the first noun you see... I mean try to represent it. So a combination of Bruce's idea and blind fold yourself so you can't critique as you go. It always gets me unstuck. What have you got to loose, the piece will just sit undone otherwise, so what the H... E... double hockey sticks, right.

Haha yeah except I can't actually paint anything reconsible, I have a good idea for this painting, I'm going to try tonight... I post the results.
I bought a 72'' x 64" canvas yesterday that is just dying to be busted with color but I can never start something without finishing the one I've started, so I have to finish this painting. Sorry to anyone that reads this for the random thoughts, lol they come out so much better threw my hands then in my head.

ok, it's still not finished but I just wanted to see if people think I'm going in the right direction. Sorry for the horrible pic, it was wet and I didn't want to move it into better lighting.

Spoilt

Postby BAReam » Sat Jun 14, 2008 4:51 am

Hi... I'm afraid that I may have unintentionally led you astray a bit. I should have been more specific in saying that my wild and crazy {sorta} method applies best to more study-like or experimental pieces... more to get the juices flowing than resolving issues or finishing a piece. That should be a bit more cere
al and methodical.

I really am sorry my dear... I have to agree with Nigel.. "spoilt it" . You have some very nice things going on in the area, but the image appears torn in half, and the new side shares little, if anything to the right, with the exception of the
ushwork.

Must get some sleep-back a bit later!
all the best ...Bruce

Amber!!!???
It was very beautiful work before. I would only add some blue and purple on the left side and thin line of navy blue in the middle. Don't worry!! Next one will be better.
big hug

Bruce!! Have mercy on us, Sir! After your recipe I would do the same what glomski did.

ok ok, I realize that most of you REALLY didnt like what I had done to it, but I think I have redeemed myself... I love the finished piece, I don't hang a lot of my paintings up in my house, because I don't ahve enough walls for them all, but I am hanging this one up. I think it represents my work really well, it has bold
ight colors with darkness and of course the texture is emparitive. I hope this one gets a better response but don't hold back, I still want to hear honesty.

I really don't like the large dark areas. The areas that you detailed in dark are wonderful... perhaps it's just not finished. In my opinion I dislike it just as much as before...no more... no less. Keep working. Frustration is not an end to a painting it is just a barrier that needs to be jumped. You're halfway over, but keep going...don't give up.
