My homemade website

Postby Matt Tilghman » Sun Jan 06, 2013 2:31 pm

Hey all, I'm brand new here. Thought I'd first post by showing you all my website. I used to have a customized smugmug account, but I couldn't quite customize it enough, and so opted to build one from scratch. Your opinions would be much appreciated:

Thanks!

I just got finished listening to a song by
Katrina and the Waves. Then, I see one
of your shoreline photographs.
The Dear Lord only gives me what I can
handle in a joyous sense so I'll have to kick
back a minute and sip my coffee.
Two amazing events in a row is almost too
much for the ol' girl to handle.
Your work is what photography is really about.
The artistry, the colors, the composition,
the very soul of the areas with which you capture
most ably and beyond.
Thank You so very much for sharing your site
with us. Everything is very accessible and
nicely laid out BUT, where is the contact info?
Oh, there it is...way at the bottom of your artist's page,
know what I'm sayin?

Matt, you are so talented! I love your photos! Website design is also very nice and it focuses on your work, which is very important. What I like about your website is that it immediately brings a viewer into a relaxed mood, your website is elegant, clean and has a lot of space to breathe and unwind. :) The only tiny thing that I noticed is that when I scroll down on your homepage, menu disappears and on other pages when I scroll down, your name appears in the same position at all time, partially covering up the image. I'm not sure if it was intended or not. As a graphic designer in my opinion it would be more beneficial for your work if your name stayed with the rest of the text area. For your homepage there is "no scroll" code in CSS to avoid it. Overall it's a great website and I admire you for making it from scratch. Good job!

Hello Matt,

Your photographs are wonderful and your website is great! Congrats!

As I clicked on "Published Photos" though, my browser told me that the requested URL was not found on the served (error 404). And I had the same problem as Kokoart with the menu disappearing while scrolling (I am using Chrome).
The contact info a may be a bit difficult to find for someone who is in a hurry.
