With number of my recent paintings I have used an acrylic extender medium in order to create more dramatic blending, along with
preventing the paint from drying too quickly on the palette. I've attached two recent examples of my paintings in order to illustrate.
Have any other artists used an acrylic extender before? Thoughts or suggestions are welcome.

Oh yes - I agree, Extender mediums are great for longevity of the pigment. have you ever added any texture mediums too to your acrylics?

I have yet to add any texture mediums, as I am concerned about the outcome. Though I may try one painting as see what happens.

Start with something small to experiment with... I played around with Acrylic pours, that I later did some pen and Ink over, or Epoxy Resin sculpts that I followed with foil leafing.
If you like the canvas - most art stores have really small ready-made canvas's ... perfect for this kind of experimentation. I really think that its great to have a solid understanding of the medium, but
equally important to know you are not bound by those fundamentals. Have fun!
