Moon in Pastel

Postby sharrrkee » Mon Feb 17, 2014 2:45 am

The last time I used pastel was 7 years ago and I find it hard to use it. I wanted to draw a realistic moon but ended up drawing it this way. This is not yet finish, as I plan to draw something at the foreground. :P How are you guys doing when working using pastels?

I am interested in what you had in mind for the foreground... the moon looks good so far.
are you using standard pastels or oil pastels? when I do pastel I use oil. :)

Being a minimalist gal at heart I suggest you not put anything in the foreground.
This stands wonderfully alone in it's stark simplicity. Your colors and rounds are strong
enough to convey your message. I think adding something would detract. Thank You, E

If ynou can,, before you make changes to your original...heeding E's suggestions... scan your original and experiment on copies before adding anything to the original to be sure you are going to like it... with pastels Its hard to correct once you've done something. :)

Being a minimalist myself. I like a strong central image. I agree with E. Tho you could do a little more with the sky maybe to draw the eye to your image. Don't over power the moon but compliment it.
