A landscape-not a bloody cartoon!

Hello everyone! Here is my attempt at a landscape . . .I am no where near finished. It was done in chalk, pen and india ink and some watercolors- For some of the foreground elements (leaves and reeds)it is 16x20 on canvas paper . .If anyone could tell me how I would frame canvas paper I would appreciate it.I don't want to invest in expensive wood framed stuff until I know that I can create some work that warrants such a purchase . . .Thanks Mike

Venturing off into the wilderness eh? Good start here. Landscapes can be trickier than a lot of people think! Look forward to seeing the finished product.

I like the start and your style, looks like it has some Asian influence.

Here's an idea for framing, especially since it's 16x20. Go to an inexpensive department store with a measuring tape and look for clearance framed art. I've found some beautiful frames for my "in between stuff" with matting included. I just threw out the ugly print that was in it. Bottom line= nice frame, with matting around $10.

eak out the gouche paints I bought 5 years ago and never used I guess . . .

Hi Mike!

Very nice job here, you did a fantastic job with the rocks and overall landscape layout. Those trees can take some time too especially the ones supposed to be in focus. Leaves can be a nightmare when you have to paint each one individually also. You'll find this out I guess.

I agree with Rich about the difficulty level of creating landscapes. There really is a lot that goes in with the composition.

What Julies suggested about department store art sales, I need to check that out too. Thanks Julie!

Your work should be matted then framed.

It looks like spring emerging into summer, with the leaves popping out. It's comig along nicely. I like your use of colors.
