You have your base sketch in order. I'm liking the layout so far!

I would say.. grab a separate sheet and play with the technique a bit. Understand the density means shadow and depth... or means highlight and shine.... depending on where and how you apply it...
direction can denote planes, elevation or changes of level, but can also say, movement.

I just did one, using a scratchboard (in the Ready for the fury forum) titled the Director. its not perfect, but its a less forgiving medium too.
You have a great start... having mapped out the basic layout on your paper.. I would next map out where your main shadows and highlights will be to help you get started...

you can do a search for crosshatch in fine art illustrations if you want... but basically my advice is start subtle or lightly.. you can always make it heavier.. its harder to take it back. Hope that helps.
May your world be painted in the Brightest of colors!

Thx jenn, Think I understand. =) I will try a bit on a blank paper. Also got eager to do it in inc. Guess it's gonna be even harder, thats a new medium for me.
I'll be sure to check out Director.

Thx again!

Ink is a non-forgive medium... do in pencil first till you get the go of it... you can always go back over with ink. :)
