Aries- a Donation portrait

Postby BYart » Sun Mar 03, 2013 11:56 am

Aries had been a long termed resident at the Lycoming County SPCA in Williamsport, PA, for over 8 months! I found her picture on their FB pg and decided to try and help her find a loving home. I donate 3-4 times a year, a free portrait of an animal I choose basically just surfing the internet or Facebook, to that shelter, to give to the person/family that steps up to adopt! I have had success in helping animals that keep getting overlooked for various reasons, by renewing the interest through my Donation portrait. I don't claim they adopt only because of the portrait, but rather it becomes another 'tool" to bring awareness to that particular animal. In Aries case, she is now "on Hold for Adoption"(YAY!) meaning, the adopters just need to complete the final step in the shelter's adoption process, which is a home check. Then, tomorrow, Aries WILL become one of my success stories(assuming all goes well). It is a small way that I give back, with my devotion to animals and artistic abilities.

If I did'nt know any better. I would think your portriats were photos. But ofcourse thier better than photos.
Perfection is what drives an artist.
The inability to achieve perfection is what creates a work of art.

Thanks for the compliment John! I'm trying hard to achieve the detail with acrylics. So far, my clients are happy, but I am still not satisfied, lol. I guess no artist ever really is are we? :)

Great portrait, especially the eyes and ears. You really represented this pet's character in paint very nicely.

Thanks so much Rebecca and Nigel! I cannot apologize enough for my terribly slow response...my bad...so sorry.

Here's a picture of Aries as she was adopted by her new family on Mar. 4th! As per my usual, they were given my portrait of Aries as my gift!
I've had great success in helping these once overlooked shelter dogs get adopted! My portraits serve as a tool, to renew the interest, and it has been successful!
