New paintings

Postby bpier » Mon Oct 31, 2011 9:24 pm

I did a few in the last couple of weeks so I'll put them all up at once.
The first was just a simple beach scene done in oil on a 24x30" canvas untitled.
The second is of the Chicago Marina in the early morning done in oil on a 30x40" canvas
and the third is a cityscape of Michigan Avenue in Chicago done in oil on a 18x24" canvas.
Thanks for looking....Brian

So good. They are all very similar, yet each completely different. I love them.

Brian, This work is outstanding. It's what painting is all about.
Perfection is what drives an artist.
The inability to achieve perfection is what creates a work of art.

Brian, excellent, as always. But beyond that what's most interesting to me is the cityscape. I don't know if intentional or not, but the vertical lines and narrow street makes the image elongated and distorted that results in a compressed, contstrained mood further emphasized by the cool colours. I think it's absolutely wonderful! wish to see more...

Hi Erika, how are you. I don't know if it was intentional. I just paint what I see. The vertical lines were intentional to get the depth I wanted and to draw the eye to the into the painting.
