Art. a perspective from Artists, Art Lovers, Galleries

Postby jenn_iam » Tue Mar 18, 2014 4:45 pm

I thought I would start a topic that everyone can participate in but particularly, for our Art Lovers and Gallery folks as well.
Initially I was thinking the questions could be geared to either the Artists, or the Art Lovers.. or the Galleries... and some do.. but really
have fun...

What about art do you enjoy? Is it the act of creating it or the message or sense of expression conveyed by it?

Is there a particular style or Artist that you admire or prefer over others?

Have you ever tried to do art in any form yourselves? If so, which? If not, why not?

Artists, is there an a artistic exploration that you have yet to try, but cant wait til you do?

Art Lovers, Is there anything you would love to ask artists? Something you've always been curious about?

Feel free to add questions, or thought to expand the discussion. :)
May your world be painted in the Brightest of colors!

To start... I will ansewer my own quesitons.
What about art do you enjoy? Is it the act of creating it or the message or sense of expression conveyed by it?
- I love the act of creating it, the process of exploration.. either in concept or in material experimentation.. I like to tell stories, and challenge myself in a concept that goes beyond perceived limitations... (such as .. convey the emotion and personality in a figure, rather than just the figure with thier physical attributes.)

Is there a particular style or Artist that you admire or prefer over others?
- Absolutely... beyond having utmost admiration of the masters... I am drawn to Surealism the most.. But I also appreciate any peice of work that conveys imagination - Dark or light, serious or whimsical.. if it tells a story or evokes a thought beyond the a visual behind the title.. Artist such as Brom or Michael Parkes being amongst my favorites of today's artists.

Artists, is there an a artistic exploration that you have yet to try, but cant wait til you do?
Off the top of my head, not that I can think of... I am pretty good at jumping in with new things.. so that this question doesnt linger long for me.
May your world be painted in the Brightest of colors!

Loving Surrealism as well but I was raised on abstracts - in my blood. Oh, what the heck, I love it all!
Every period, every innovation, style mutation, evolution or de-volution. Everything wonderful.

Art...
As an observer, I prefer art which is imaginative. I like the idea of realizing images which simply do not exist in our "mundane" world. This does not go to the extent of me liking abstract art, as I honestly don't understand that stuff. I like "Literal representations of imaginative scenes".
(Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax--
Of cabbages--and kings--)

As an artist, I'm trying to "achieve" my imagination...
...it sounds a little silly outside of my head...
The fate of men, might weigh on me,
But I take that sin quite well,
Only cold wins, in the dark it seems,
But I hear there's warmth in hell...

It is also a vessel of creative exploration, no? A means to experiment, making a non-reality a reality of sorts.
To expore the void of unknowns in the pursuits of higher acheivements... an evolution of onceself as well.

Ever knowing that I (the artist) is the explorer of ones creative horizons.. much of which is wild an untapped. Waiting...

Montra to that exploration.

creating the artwork is the motivation
Lindisfarne gospels and the bool of Kells; Frank Frazetta and Boris Valhajo; Chris Magyr and Stephan Card; Heath Robinson and all Impressionists are my favourites.
