Surrealismi was founded by Andre Breton in 1924,it was a primarily European movement that attracted many members of Chaotic Dada movement.It was similar in some elements to the mystical 19th century symboloist movement but was deeply influanced by the phycoloanalytic work of freud and jung.
Hello Dali! He is one of my favorite surrealists. Max Ernst and Magritte(spell check that last one Rippy) are two others whose work in that realm are worthy of note.
