"Listening to the Trees"

Postby moebean » Fri Mar 01, 2013 9:01 pm

I feel like this piece is done although it is Very a-typical for me to leave the "canvas" so empty. All C&C welcome ~moe

There is an autumnal feel to this artwork for me. The colours and stripped branches give me that feeling. I like the arrangement of pieces on this artwork.

It would be better, again, to see this live as it is on quite a large canvas.

Well done.

Moebean, thank you so much for giving us
highlights of this lovely technique! I 'went into' your piece a little
(You're right - I need to "look closer") but I have to say I'm
wanting something more. The background images are interesting
and there's cool stuff going on but I wish for some delicate highlighting for
a few of those. For some reason, I need a bridge between the strength
of your leaves and the softness of the background images.
Thanks, E

Hi E ...So highlighting the leaves, eh? Perhaps sparingly .. but once you do white in oil there is no going back so I'll have to think hard before applying any whites. Thanks muchly ~moe

I like the possibility of taking this further. Perhaps the subtle lines of an actual tree with the braches coming out of it.

I'm not sure where i would put a tree, even if it was subtle, and it would indeed need to be very subtle .... without damaging the composition.

Looks like the branches are coming through the painted canvas, which is a visual concept that lends itself to the action of "listening". I like this piece from a distance, taken in whole. Up close is fun to see too. Certainly something that would have to be at least the size you made. Thanks for showing.
