I only have time to write a short description, but as it is in my best interest I'll update, and answer questions.
As the yellow squid zero's in on the shrimp, an angular fish also goes in for the catch. The Squid, noticing a second-to-late, mixes his natural camouflage ability and ink spitting defenses thereby encompassing the predator in a confusing physchedelic "coral castle" maze of its normally familiar habitat. This rainbow explosion is simultaneously magnified when the non-isometric plasma bullet [fired from Samus (Metroid, NES)] collides with the etheric energy field of the paisley. To top it off, a normally surreptitious aqua-banana sits precariously on the edge of the abyss. By combining this surrealist trick a double image is formed - where the banana is the mouth of a humanoid figure who's mesmerized by the thriving flower, he is unaware of the chaos ensuing around him. Putting it all together, the sea life is a metaphor for the subconscious.
I'll elaborate when I have more time...
Joe-
I agree it is too busy. My thinking was the right side needs to be busy to allow the rest to look calm in comparison. That way I can pack a lot of information in a small canvas. The paisley reference is my symbol for the 4th dimension, by showing how the flat pixelated world becomes cubes, I've described hyper-dimensionality (the best I could) in terms we can relate to.
