Cucumber Falls on Jewlery Box Lid

Postby kcortese » Fri Sep 11, 2009 8:55 am

Hi Everyone!

Here is the Jewelry Box lid that I originally painted flowers on, I sanded it down and repainted with Cucumber Falls in Ohio Pyle State Park PA.

It is oils on wood 9 1/4"x5 1/4".

Good Morning!

Hmmmmm...either you are getting much better at taking pictures or your work is just starting to look much nicer. Great job! Your painting is lovely! The trees and bushes have that interplay between light and shadow that gives the work an interesting ad sophisticated look!
Well done!

Thanks Michael!

Your comments are so helpful and honest.

I tried to keep the light direction coming from the upper right hand corner. I can get carried away with highlighting leaves and made myself stop!

Some detail was lost in the scan, all the twigs aren't showing up.

I scanned this one. Someday, I'll be able to afford and good digital camera. Don' have several hundred dollars right now.

Oh Karen!
This is VERY goooooooood!!!!!!!!!
You should be very proud of this piece!
I think your color choices are 'spot on!"
The painting has nice depth and it certainly is very realistic. Nice job on the water, especially the falls!

I know what you mean with having to stop yourself with painting in light...I've had that problem as well on a few.
KEEP painting, love them!

I promise NOT to destroy this one, because I like it. It needs to dry for about 1 week before I apply a protective finish.

I will like to thank everyone for the kind words of encouragement. I need it right now.

Still working on the horses running in water painting making changes Barb suggested. This painting is going to be a marathon.
