My favorite art forms are photography, sculpture and drawing for myself I have not tried my hand at painting yet. I also love to go hiking and creeking here are some pics of my creeking event the other day. Please tell me where I am missing the mark if I am and how I can improve. I usually like to do film shooting black and white but I have a digital camra and this is my first real thought of digital photography.

Hi Angie,
I think of all three, that the second and third, (the third being my favorite), are to me the most intriguing. Probably partially because of my liking the realism, but more because of the message, especially in the third(man and nature). You have my vote! Keep exploring compostion and varying subjects as I think they are all quite good!

My vote also goes for the third one. It has the most potential. I would experiment more wth cropping. You have a good eye. The tires and rusted metal bars provoke attention and interest to the picture.

Hi Angie,

I think I am not the best with my comments especially when I am not familiar with your medium . Expressing myself is still difficult too. OK
I will try my best.

The first one is like abstract to my eyes. I must say very interesting. Why?
Because makes me think what you want to tell the viewer like me.
The third one has a clear message. Fantastic way to show destroyed environment by human.
You are not just a good photographer . You are well thinking artist!

all the best A.

Hi Krysta,

The first one does make for good abstract subjects. Kinda neat how it's a little blurry so it slows the eye down and makes you think.

The second one really needs to be drawn with a pencil imo  . It's just calling out to be made into a pencil drawing. Incredible how there are rocks mixed in with the roots.

The third one wins my vote for photo-journalist-properties in the beauty of nature and the disrespect man has for it.

You are well on your way. If you don't mind me asking what kind of trees are these? and What kind of camera do you use?

Thank you all for your comments I need all the help I can get to move me to the area I want to be. I find it very difficult to share what I see with others because I am a perfectionist and if I cannot do it than I won't try. I am getting the courage to start submitting to contests scarry for me. I have lived my life getting a bad reputation and no one caring about what I have to offer. I have been told many times you have no talent. At 51 I am finally pursuing my dreams and my family I care for in my house are cheering me on. Sob story right I hate it but I am working through it so I will get on with what I love and that is Art. I am a full time student in Art major, I am changing my history major to Art History major and adding Photography as well as Philosophy as my minor. (Whew a lot of work but these are my passion). Maybe I should concentrate on learning to write better who knows. LOL.

My camera is a small cheap FujiFlim 8.3 mega pixel digital I also have a
oken Nikon that takes some interesting pic if it feels like it. Once I can afford it I plan on purchasing better equipment. The trees I am not sure they are possibly White Ash but they are down in a creek that I had to climb down into without getting soaked. I love creeking and hiking so I am now taking my camera with me when I go on these walks.

FYI I have at home 6 kids who range in age from 5 to 23 y/o hard to do art, school and raise them right but we are trying. My partner is also a art major she does beautiful carving in rock and makes impressive trees from clay. We are trying to get a better life for the kids together and making it something that they can depend on when we are gone.

Well, I know you did not ask for all this but I always talk to much when I talk sorry if I have bored you. But I think you need to get some insight into me to understand my work. One day I hope to do a series on abandoned buildings and the useless building projects that go on to add to our financial burdens as a nation.

Okay I stop.

You have a lot on your plate! But you're doing what you love to do, and with all the support you get from family you'll get through it all. Good luck!
