OMGoodness yag411! This is exceptional! Double BRAVO!!! I would swear, if I didn't know better, that this was a photo! You have amazing talent!!!
The entire piece is so very well rendered, especially the cake, and I also love the mirroed reflections on the counter and fork!

Please forgive my question, but would the piece have benefited by a slight reflection under the plate, as it(plate) appears to be floating a bit to my eye? Your answer will help me in my learning journey, as I aspire to create such perfection as you obviously accomplish in your work.

Your work is wonderful you have a great talent for photo realism. I do agree that your plate appears to float a little with out a little more reflection under it. I looked at your My Space page you have a gift and at your age you have plenty of times to become even better. I was wondering were your taught to paint in a high school art class or did you receive private lessons or were your born with your special gift and are self taught? Any way I love your work! thanks everyone for responding to this post. To answer some of the questions, no this is not part of a series. This is the only painting of a cake that I have done. As far as the reflection under the plate, there actually is one, but it is hard to make out in this photo becuase it is so subtle. You all probably know how difficult it is to photograph your work and have it come out looking like it does in real life. And lastly, I did have art classes in high school, but the best thing that my teacher did was give me the opportunity to go into any direction I wanted to, and from there, I would say it was mostly trial and error.
