abstract wanting feedback

This is a forum where you can post your art work and ask what the world thinks. I am looking for general feedback, nothing too technical. A push in the right direction would be appreciated.

abstract wanting feedback

Postby sky2rose77 » Wed Aug 08, 2012 2:26 am

I am new to the forums and just hoping for ANY feedback on this. I am curious what people see in the painting, but also, if anyone thinks its any good. I enjoy painting, but have never had instruction (though I would love some).
thanks!

Abstracts are really tough to critique. This has really nice color and texture. But I am not sure about the composition. Why the two separate panels? By the way, what materials did you use?

Thanks for the feedback! I used acrylics and tinfoil on canvas. I used to canvases to draw attention to the center, but no other real good reason. My goal was for people to find their own picture in it, kind of like a Rorschach! :-). (and for it to match my bathroom, lol)

i love the colors and the texture...they seem out of place by themselves..but i bet they make an awesome accent to your bathroom...or whereever. one of my favorite things about them is that they are different...

Abstracts are very interpretive for the viewer, and its hard to critique only in that we (or I) don't know if what you ended up with, was truly what you were after when you began. Is the painting, what you hoped it would be, once you finished?

I personnally, am not a huge abstract fan, but I really like the colors and the texture definitely in this and even moreso that this is saying you are thinking out of the box, but using a surface that is more-or-less unconventional. This is good experimentations. Keep doing it.

As for composition... I am not a fan of them, side by side. That being said, I do think their compositions (each painting on thier own) can be quite intriguing.

Definitely keep doing experimenting!! Nice job!
May your world be painted in the
Brightest of colors!

I have a feeling that a photo might not show
all the color and shading in this interesting abstract.
I personally am feeling an angry Earth-God, or something like that!
I am an abstract fan because instead of having the
story plainly told to the viewer (which is also perfectly fine),
the viewer can make up their own story while studying
the work!

Hello, I am a Huge fan of all abstract even simple line. I love how you used the foil and acrylics I think it is brilliant! Your color choices and texture is amazing. However, the dark plain canvas you have placed your beautiful art on take away from there beauty. I look forward to see what you come up with in the future.
