this painting is my newest 8x10 oil (pictured above), it was inspired by Van Gogh's Irises (pictured below). Let me know what ya think ;)

Lovely. The colors are nice and bright. I actually like it better than the Van Gogh.

Hi Blake...
Your peice is wonderful. You have a good grasp on the impressionistic style, and are consistent with your strokes/hand. The only thing that I would suggest, is add a little more depth (contrasting tones) in the blossoms themselves - something to bring them out and to life just a little more. The leaves and the background have a good balance. It think this is a great peice. keep em coming!

Hmm thank u. :) thats what i was thinkin only like 3 diff tones in the blossoms, a few more tones woulda made em pop more i agree ;)

Exactly.. I'm usually a subscriber of the 'Less is More' philosophy.. but in this case, I think it would balance out the peice a bit more.
