First pet portrait in Colored Pencils

Hi everyone, this is my first attempt at a horse in colored pencil. I did try a person portrait of my daughter but couldn't get the skin tones right which put me off the medium for a while. Because we are returning to the UK in the near future (and I am hoping to do commissions in my spare time), I ...

Please give an opinion

Hi everyone, would you be kind enough to give your opinions on a couple of my latest works? I really am struggling with my confidence at the moment and am considering abandoning the whole idea of an art career! Its just seems too difficult to acheive and I can't seem to concentrate on any single are...

Photographing paintings

Can anyone give me tips on taking good photographs of my paintings. I have a reasonable quality digital camera but my photographs dont show my paintings like they are really. I don't use the camera flash and try to take the photos on a flat surface to no avail. My pictures always end up wornky or ou...

Hi Linda

Like the other forum members said, truly beautiful. I find the painting very inspiring. How did you do that with acrylics?

your opinions please

Hi, this is one I'm working on and just can't get right! Its oil on canvas 10.5 x 8.5" I think I've really messed up on this one and need some guidance. I am happy with the background and need to put highlights on the grapes but the pottery has given me nightmares. I know the shadows are too da...

ImageKind and DeviantArt

Hi again everyone. I have recently signed up for a free account on both Imagekind and Deviant Art to hopefully sell some prints of my artwork. Can anyone who is familiar with these sites give me a few pointers as to the best way of selling prints on their sites and does the service actually work, am...

Hi Menolly, Now I've actually used it I am even more impressed. I asked the other half and he said that if you are fixing it to a plasterboard wall (if that is what you mean by drywall) you need to screw the main supports to the the main frame behind the wall. Our easel is very heavy, but on a small...

Build your own wall easel

Hi folks, was unsure where to post this so hope its going to be okay here. I have just built a wall easel that is fully adjustable and can hold several paintings at once. It is great for saving floor space and can be built to fit any available wall space. It has saved me loads compared to the cost o...

Webiste or Blog?

I have recently set up a blog and am currently considering building a website. Does anyone have any thoughts on whether a blog is adequate for showcasing and selling artwork? By this I mean is it considered unprofessional not to have a dedicated site from which to hopefully sell my art. Does anyone ...

What is masonite?

Hi gang, I usually do small oil paintings of pre-stretched canvas. I am interested in trying out a range of cheaper and sturdier painting supports, I dont like canvas paper, its just not 'solid' enough. I have heard of masonite and just wondered what it is, not that I think it would be available whe...
