Re: Transferring Complex Line Drawing to Canvas

Thanks for your input CarlOwen! I'm excited about this idea. I was planning on working in acrylic. If oil paints work, then I'd be hopeful that acrylics would work as well. I wonder if I could use a watered-down acrylic medium as a ground layer to give me some tooth-- if it were watered some, it mig...

Re: Transferring Complex Line Drawing to Canvas

Now that is an interesting idea. Do you think I could just paint over the printed ink?

Transferring Complex Line Drawing to Canvas

Hi Everyone! I have some intricate line drawings that I am planning to use as a basis for a series of paintings. Does anyone have any tips or shortcuts for transferring something complex like this to a canvas accurately? I was thinking of using a small projector to project the image onto the canvas,...

Re: Feedback Please?

Hey Alison555, aw well thank you! I use Weebly as my site builder, and although I've found a few things that I'm not crazy about, it's generally worked really well for me. It's easy to use and offers quite a few different options in terms of layout, style, etc. I have a co-worker who knows a little ...

Re: New Person...

They really are! Their energy is hilarious. Mine used to love to try to climb up the inside of my 90 year-old grandmother's pant leg! Needless to say she was never too happy about it. She'd try to scold him like a dog..."Bad Joey! No!"

Re: More from Mo23

Very interesting. The third one down, "Inside Out" reminds me of an overgrown building. I like your combination of architectural geometrics and organic, flowing shapes.

Drypoint Print Critique

Although I adore printmaking, I don't get to do it often because of not always having access to a press. Here's a drypoint series (titled Tidepools I-IV) that I printed last summer at a local print shop, and then last month I finally got around to finishing it for a show (painting in certain areas w...

Re: Opinions for a friend

Yeah, these are pretty incredible pieces. The care he's put into every detail is evident! The eyes on the last painting really got me. I think often the eyes (animal or human) are the sticking point because that's where one can feel the presence of the creature, and it's so difficult to capture that...

Just a Little Alien Rat...

I've been working on a monster coloring book for the past few months. Things have gotten crazy and I haven't had much time to work lately, but here is a sample page. I'm a textile designer as my day job, and I've been mixing my love of creatures and repeat patterns together to make these images.

Re: I suck at these things

Oh cool! I've never heard of it, but I've just started using an art tablet with Photoshop. I definitely feel slightly strange using it, and am not that great at controlling it (I'm definitely waaaay more capable with a pencil and paper). I'm sure I just need more practice, but it sounds like MyPaint...

Re: I suck at these things

Hey! I just signed up today and also find introductions fairly awkward. Probably everyone does! I'm looking forward to checking out your stuff. I have way more experience in "manual" art techniques but lately I've been enjoying using Photoshop to color my ink drawings. I'd love to lean to ...

Feedback Please?

Hey Everyone! Since last January I've been working really hard to revamp my entire website. I'm hoping to get some feedback-- not necessarily on my artwork itself (although if you have specific thoughts on it, I'd love to hear) but more on the set-up and organization of the site as a whole. I do a l...

Re: Check out my new shop for my artwork

Hey,

Looks fabulous. Good call on the white background and the simple gallery set-up! It really allows the details in your work to shine. The only thing I personally feel like I'm missing is an informational page about you! I always like to know more about the artist :)
