Sunset on the Mary D. Hume

Well by golly, for better (I hope) or worse, I finally finished my oil on canvas of the Mary D Hume.

I know nothing about boats, so it was a little weird at times.

Thanks for any critiques

Re: Sunset on the Mary D. Hume

Thanks so much, Carl. I have very limited experience painting boats, so this has been a true challenge!

Sunset on the Mary D. Hume

This painting is based on a photo of an old abandoned fishing boat on the Oregon coast. The original photo was taken by an internet friend who was kind enough to send me a print to use as a model.

Hi Guys- I just finished this as a gift for an old friend. I'd appreciate any comments or suggestions. Trees growing from rocks are very common in the waters of Washington and Oregon coasts. Evidently birds fly over and sometimes seeds are dropped. The coasts of Washington and Oregon are beyond beau...

Re: New seascape WIP

Thank you, Rebecca! And Joe, wish I could ship it to you--except I'm painting it as a gift for a longtime friend in California. Thanks for the compliment, though!

New seascape WIP

Hi Guys-

I'm somewhere around 3/4 done on this. I think. I'd really appreciate any info, positive or negative. How can we improve without honest critiques.

Thanks a million.

Re: working on

Thanks so much. Have added more light in the clouds, hopefully resulting in more expressiveness.

Re: working on

Thank you for the valuable suggestions. Nigel, I would indeed give some thought to adding a boat, had the painting not already progressed quite so far as it has as of yesterday and today. Elizabeth, I began to notice that the sky needed more definition in the clouds--the whole thing appeared somewha...

Re: working on

Thanks, Tanya. This painting is of an early evening or late afternoon on a beach reminiscent of areas on the Oregon Coast. I have since done some revision on the sky and distant water, as I felt it was becoming too harsh. So far it's feeling better to me.

working on

I'm kind of in the middle of this I think, and would appreciate any thoughts on it. I just finished a seascape a few days ago, and Elizabeth (Ehoeveler) gave me great suggestions on that (Storm Over Yucatan).

Thanks in advance

Done and thank you

I finished my oil of a storm approaching the Yucatan Peninsula the other day. I took it from a photo sent to me be an internet friend who lives there, and is blessed to see this kind of thing all the time. I'd appreciate any thoughts and/or critiques on this. We can all learn from one another. Eliza...

Re: I'm a newbie

Hi Elizabeth, Thank you for welcoming me to A Singular Creation! I thought I'd sent you a reply a few moments ago, but cannot find it anywhere. If it's hiding somewhere in cyberspace, please accept my apologies for repeating myself. No, never have been to the Northeast, but would certainly love to g...

Re: I'm a newbie

Dear Nigel, Thanks so much for welcoming me and the kind comments on the lighthouse painting. It's titled ''Savior'', and the original is an oil on 18x24 canvas. So glad to be a part of A Singular Creation!
