Re: Hello

My respect to you Carl. It means more to me to receive some form of 'I don't comprehend' criticism than it is to receive none at all. More so that you actually returned a number of times to draw up some form of conclusion. As a bit of digression I actually live in one of those 'ugly Victorian Houses...

Hello

A kind of 'pared back' simplistic approach to a 'meeting'. My original sketch had a piece of detail which changed the whole aspect of the subject, but my wife asked me to keep it 'tasteful' for a particular reason and hence omitted. I'm rather happy with the end result, but I do see this as being th...

Re: Keeping acrylic paints?

Certainly not food made from acrylic paints! God it tastes foul. I usually cook on the principle of 'eat now, not later' I have actually completed the painting in mention and hopefully a photo session tomorrow. Also looks like I have found a place who look interested in a solo exhibition some...

Re: Keeping acrylic paints?

Thank you very much for the reply.

After years of working with acrylics it is one thing I never thought of.

Keeping acrylic paints?

Nearing the completion of an on-going piece and I need to mix quite a large quantity of violet and white. Once mixed I don't want to use it all in one go, but need to return to complete. I don't want to try re-mixing another batch so to maintain the consistency in the shade. There will probably be s...

Re: Art is fun?

Thank you for your comments. It is odd as I never actually saw it as being a dog, or anything else for that matter as it just kind of evolved, but people see all sorts in it from dogs to robots to industrial roofs.

The only concept I had in my head is 'can I make it from steel?'

Re: Need help with a question!

Something I have never considered over-imposing on a photograph, but it is very effective when done well. I do like the idea of the stencil, but to give that 'haunting fee'l I would probably look at a light spray application. maybe even enamel paint. It would probably need some experimentation thoug...

Re: "ONWARDS"

I am not any kind of a mind on sculptures (although I am hoping to down this road soon), but I really like the sense of 'quirky' your figures display. They are the kind of pieces which if in a gallery would attract my attention simply because they are different. They puzzle, which appeals to me as I...

Cracking the gallery game?

Not quite a 'guess the gallery?' audience participation game', but how to get work in to galleries? I've approached a few local galleries, but one of the big issues appears to be 'wall space availability' and the sheer lack of. Guess that is what you get in to a city with an art based university. Ot...

Re: Signing paintings?

I don't think I am Humble enough to be the H in Humble, but Honestly I can go with the H in Honest. Or could that be H for Horrible? Or 'Orible?..........May be not, otherwise it would be IMOO This discussion has actually given me some inspiration for a 'fun' piece of art. I just need to get home fr...

IMHO? I n M y H onest O pinion If you can make someone happy by bringing some humour in to their life, then life is good, and to make someone smile is one of life's richer rewards. With a moniker of Satanfriendly it is amazing how some see me as being a darkened satanical entity and adding 'fun' mak...

Re: Multi-media

It has a lovely appeal about it. Sufficient to tell the story and not too much to overwhelm. I have always had an admiration for nicely executed collages. If I was a Facebook user it would be a 'like'

Re: Signing paintings?

Just like my wife, you are probably right. I only say 'probably' as I do not want to give a total victory to my much much better half! Thanks Carl. I can see your points and in particular that of 'lingering' too long at the signature and not that of the painting itself which makes sense. Subco...

Signing paintings?

For years I have always put the date of the painting along with my signature. Is this wrong? Is it a bad habit? Or am I just set in my ways? I'd love to hear thoughts on this as my wife reckons it takes away the timelessness a painting should elude. She is probably right and my present painting will...

Re: Art is fun?

Thank you for the comment. The bar code? It was rather fitting at the time and adds a bit of 'strange taste' in to the bathroom. Looks quite nice in the blue LED lights in there. I tend to paint with a place to hang in mind A bit too 'cartoony' but takes position on the wall over the computer as a w...

Art is fun?

I've often tried to inject some fun in to my art and so after re-visiting this site after some absence I have decided to post a few examples from some past pieces What do you do with all those squeezed out tubes of left over paint? http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d166/iowajoey/StripyTShirt76x122.j...

Re: Art using iron and welding techniques

Oddly enough I am just looking at moving this direction so as to transpose some of my art in to a sculpture using welded and formed steel plate. I have an Italian friend down on London who usually specialises in traditional copper beating who is going to help out. I am slightly driven by a very beau...
