  • Interests: creating objects of beauty, new experiences, travel and learning
  • About Me: I am an artist. Always have been an artist and shall always be an artist. My first painting was done on Christmas day after receiving my first art set under the tree at the age of four. My last painting has not yet been produced.
To me as an artist, there is a knife’s edge between order and chaos, between style and ability, between realism and abstraction, and between do and try. If asked to paint a realism painting, it would not be done. A photograph would do the same task. The desire to demonstrate peer acceptable artistic ability would only be a wasting of time. To perform an artistic social statement about the realities of the world would be the act of a fool. When creating an object of beauty, either it is done with success as an accomplished task, or failure is the result. There is never try with the endeavor of creating a work of art.
There is a genre of art that this artist will do not do. It is disagreeable and has no need for any artist to produce. This so-call art is sexually explicit, human degrading, socially outrageous or horrific and terrifying objects referred to as art. It is called "Shock Art". The only message it sends is that of a cry from artists to look at them. Shock Art is worthless. All of my artistic endeavours are aimed at making objects of beauty.
There is something deep in us human beings that instinctively knows, appreciates and desires ownership of objects of beauty. And after all words, excuses and rationale vanish, it is the work of art that stands there or hangs on a wall all alone commanding the viewer to accept or reject it solely upon the viewer's decision. So my efforts are aimed at making that work of art own the ability to command the viewer's attention. This is my life’s quest.

Carl, I made those changes in the contest entry, but I couldn't figure out how to save what I did in Picmonkey. So I had to delete the file and fix it with another program and then reenter it. I lost your comments, of course.
How do I save the changes? I'd like to fix my other entry without losing the nice comments and the five star vote. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Thank you for your comments on my "Dark Geisha" watercolor. It is just great that what you intended is appreciated. I got a new scanner and it has little dropout, which makes me very happy that now what I put up online is very representative of my work. Again, thank you very much for your kind remarks.

Hello Carl, you are right if you feel it that way, and interprétations are so subjectives that there must be as many interprétations as there're individuals, i suppose. It's true that solitude could be a choice for someone to live in happiness; it's a choice of life therefore, the "solitude" notion should not have a negative connotation. But we live in a gregarious society in which solitude might be seen (wrongfully) in a negative way. Terms are terms i suppose, but as far as i'm concerned, i love being alone for the most part, yet, i don't know why, but i would not represent the solitude feeling in a colorfull way in my créations. Why, i don't know! The word itself sounds pejorative to my ears:) I just gave a point of vieuw about your pic insisting on the fact that it was subjective and my opinion only.:)

Carl, i took the liberty of commenting on your painting hoping that you would have enough time to submit another masterpiece to take part in the contest. As i already told you, i don't know the mentality of the jury on here... but i know that they often judge the pieces of art in an intellectual way (sometimes too much:)). And it's sometimes more important to fit perfectly a theme regardless of the esthetic way of creating a painting. But maybe i was wrong?
