Alex Sharp is a North Carolina based artist from a small rural county in the northern part of the state. Sharp’s work has been on exhibition at the North Carolina Museum of Art. His work has also been on exhibition in the Leslie-Lohman Museum in New York City where he is establishing a strong following in the gay community. Sharp’s work continues to push the boundaries in conservative circles with his views regarding homosexual and heterosexual relationships, religion and homosexuality, and the paradigms that relate to negative views on body imagery. As a visual artist, his art emerges from his own ideas and experiences found within the relationships between homosexuals and heterosexuals.when asked about his art, Sharp says" I draw my inspiration from observed social interactions and my own personal life experiences to illuminate the invisible divide between these two communities. My goal is to address these problematic issues while searching for ways to mend the social divide between straight and gay people."
