Le Concert de Feu (Fri 25 May) by SalisburyFestival on Wed May 02, 2012 9:40 am
Playing with the theme of 'fire', the Festival opens with a fiery bang as world-renowned French company Les Commandos Percu bring the magic of music and flames to Salisbury. Prepare to be dazzled by their astonishing precision drumming and beautiful pyrotechnics.
During the evening a new sculpture will be unveiled, created by QinetiQ's engineering apprentices as part of their award-winning creative programme with sculptor Charlotte Moreton. The sculpture will be permanently installed in Amesbury after the Festival.

Wilts & Dorset will be providing free shuttle buses on a frequent basis from Salisbury Bus Station to Hudson's field starting at 8.15pm with the last journey at 8.50pm, return buses will be avaliable from Hudson's Field after 10.05pm

Ageas Salisbury International Arts Festival 2012 by SalisburyFestival on Tue May 01, 2012 10:01 am
Welcome to your Festival which fills the venues from theatres to hillforts, reaches audiences for world-class artists as well as engaging those who do not traditionally experience arts festivals, stimulates artists to create new pasterpieces and nutures emerging talent.
The Festival blazed into life in July 1973. PAINTED WITH WORDS: Who are you Vincent? by RonPrice on Fri Apr 20, 2012 8:20 am
Part 1:

On April Fools’ Day this year, 2012, I watched Van Gogh: Painted With Words on ABC1.(1) It has taken me 3 weeks to find the right combination of time and circumstance to write a few words about this moving docudrama. Life is busy, even in retirement, and the age of 70, just 17 months away.

I won’t tell you chapter and verse about the content of this TV program; you can read all about it, if you are interested, at one of the many internet sites on the subject. There is also an immense bibliography that is devoted to van Gogh. You might call it the van Gogh industry.

Van Gogh(1853-1890) was a Dutch post-Impressionist painter whose work, notable for its rough beauty, emotional honesty and bold color, had a far-reaching influence on 20th-century art. After years of painful anxiety and frequent bouts of mental illness, he died. He was only 37; he died from a gunshot wound, generally accepted to be self-inflicted (al...
