A portrait is meant to capture the essence of the subject. However, despite all details being in plain sight, a portrait can also raise a great deal of questions; What does that smile mean? What kind of person are they? Mischievous? Lighthearted? From their facial expression to telltale scars, from their wardrobe to what they hold- these are cryptic symbols left for the viewer to ponder and attempt to decipher. For this online art exhibition, we’re looking for portraits, both in traditional and non-traditional styles and mediums, that communicate about the subject being portrayed. How will you present your subject? All international artists, professional and amateur and all art mediums will be considered in this call for entries from photography to wall sculpture, fabric, mixed media, all paintings and drawings including, oil, acrylic, pastels, ink, graphite, etc. Work must be able to be hung on a wall to be considered. Sizes up to 12 feet are acceptable. Video submissions will be displayed online only. Accepted entries for this online exhibition will be judged again for a collective live exhibition at our Pasadena Gallery.
